1. Irrigate the Black pepper vines with 30-40 Ltrs of water per week per vine in order to avoid yellowing. 2. Spray Kaolin (3Kg/barrel) in order to avoid sun scorching due to direct sunlight in Black Pepper .

Swachhata Hi Seva 2018 events Organised by ICAR- KVK, Gonikoppal, Kodagu


Organized cleaning of streets, drains and back alleys through awareness drives at KVK campus, Gonikoppal : ICAR- KVK Kodagu initiated the Swachhta hi Sewa Campaign at KVK campus on 15th September 2018 . All the KVK staff including farm workers took the oath for “Swachhta Hi Sewa hai”. The team took on the task of cleaning the area in and around the KVK campus. All the employees were given gloves and mask for safety . All the employees sincerely participated in the cleaning programme and pledged to keep the campus clean.



Organized Waste collection drives in households and common spaces at Karike village of Madikkeri Taluk, Kodagu district : ICAR, KVK Kodagu organised waste collection drives in households and common village points under the Swachhata Hi Seva on 18th September 2018 with participation from members of Bhagandeshwara Farmer Producer company members . KVK Staff along with the villagers of Karike, took oath to maintain Swachhata in and around their village, Veerendra Kumar SMS (Plant protection) motivated the village people to get involved in Swachhata work and also spoke about the importance of a clean and health community. Fifty five farmers participated in the event.



Village level Rallies for generating awareness about Swachhata at Maragodu village of Kodagu district: ICAR, KVK Kodagu conducted 1 day programme on creating awareness about sanitation among the school children in schools of Maragodu on 19th September 2018. Dr. Somashekar spoke school children in schools about the importance of sanitation in their homes , schools and surroundings. The students took pledge to maintain proper sanitation and also cleaned the school campus area. All of the students and teachers participates in the programme.

Waste collection drives in households, schools and public places at Hebbale Patna, a Tribal villages of Virajpet taluk: ICAR, KVK Kodagu organised waste collection drives in households and schools under the Swachhata Hi Seva on 26th Sept, 2018. KVK Staff along with the children, teachers and villagers of Reshme village of Virajpet taluk took oath to maintain Swachhata in and around the school, village. Dr. Suresh S C SMS(Livestock) motivated the students and village people to get involved in Swachhata work and also spoke about the importance of a cleanliness, communicable diseases, personal health and community health. Around 105 student and people actively took participation in the event. About 80 school children and teachers participated in the event.

Demonstration of organic compost making from agriculture waste to extension personals: ICAR KVK Kodagu organised organic compost making from agriculture waste under the Swachhata hi Seva 2018 programme. Mr. Devaiah SMS (Horticulture) and Mr. Veerendra Kumar SMS(Plant protection) demonstrated the compost making process out of the agricultural waste(banana plants). The entire farm staff along with 40 extension personals volunteered in the Building compost pits at the KVK farm.
